Darkwing Duck costume by SylviaDraws Darkwing Duck costume by SylviaDraws
Costume I made for my husband. He terms it "Christopher Nolan's Darkwing Duck." I sewed the cape, mask and hat, the rest was modified from store bought.

Photo credit to "Riddley50" from Den of Angels. Photo was taken at the Dollheart office in Glendale, CA.

This is very well put together!

Could I get a few tips on how to do something like this?
A friend of mine will be going to a convention to meet Jim Cummings, and I'm wanting to help her with her costume.
I don't exactly own a sewing machine, so I will most likely be attempting this by hand.

if by hand, I don't think I can help you o.o I did this with machine and it was seriously luck that I found the perfect peacoat from Target that would fit my husband. It's actually made for a woman :X I sewed a cape under the collar, butchered a turtleneck.. and glued grey felt fabric onto a cheap plastic witch's hat that I beat into submission... That's all the tips I know :( Good luck!

Hmmmm lots of cloth! The big things were the jacket, which I actually got from Target (It was a woman's cut) and the hat. THe hat, I got one of those cheap plastic witch's hats and put felt on the top and bottom of the rim, then reinforced the bowl with more felt. Lots of fabric glue, then sewing for the seams :) Then I just made a regular cape. Oh, and for the mask, I got a cheap plastic masquerade/domino mask from Michael's, glued a strip of some of the cape material on it, then cut out the holes.

Original Gangsta Cosplay FTW!

Wow, I'm actually hoping to do something very much like this for this Halloween. You mentioned finding the jacket at Target, any chance you know of any other specifics? brand/style?

I know it's been a year, but I can hope :)

Haha I forgot the brand and style sorry :( I think it was called a peacoat? It came in many colors and was probably $30, or around there :)

This year has been insane busy, dunno if we'll do any costumes at all :( BAH! I want AzUla so bad!

Aren't the coat and turtleneck from Target(or the coat at least? Haha, I planned on doing that as well for Halloween.

I knew the coat had been; I've been eying it for weeks now, along with a women's turtleneck that's the proper color. What size is the coat, BTW? It looks very well-fit. Perhaps the website saying it comes in "junior sizes" is misleading. Also, how's the cape attached? Was it just sewn onto the jacket or is it fastened in some other fashion?

It's a fantastic costume, and I bet it's really fun to wear! I still think it's awesome that someone beat me to my own plans for this year's Halloween. :XD: Oh well, I could still cook up my version.

We actually went to a Target and tried it on, I think it's an XXL XD And he's not a large man at all. I sewed the cape onto really big snap on buttons that attached under his collar :)

Good luck on yours!

Thanks for the info! I'll keep the size in mind when ordering my jacket (unless I can find it in-store; they seem to be elusive). A few people reviewed it and said sizing was kinda strange.

I'd have never thought of using snap-buttons to attach the cape. :D
